Morning Activities and Journal Writing:

  • M – I see a (color word) leaf. (write sentences using color words)
  • T – Sight Word crayon rubbings (review sight words we have learned so far)
  • W –My favorite color is ______. (draw and write about something their favorite color)
  • Th – Alphabet matching or sight word building using alphabet letters
  • F – The (black) (bat). (pick color word and draw picture of something that color)

Morning Message:

  • M – Make chart with students about how to stretch out words
  • T – Write the number word
  • W –The I Chant (straight down from head to toe, then across the top and across the toes, that’s how I goes) make an I and vote on their favorite kind of ice cream
  • Th – Letter J – can you think of words that start with the letter J?
  • F – draw a shape that has 4 sides and one that has 3 sides

Writing

  • M – continue to make a FALL word bank, draw and label a Fall Picture
  • T – continue to make Fall Sentences: Write about Fall using senses. Use sight words with writing (we, go, at.) Make a web/brainstorm list of things children can see, students will illustrate and write about something they can see..
  • W – continue 5 Senses Class Book, students will illustrate and write about something they can hear, smell, and touch.
  • Th-F – describe Spookly (caracteristics) class chart

Reading:

  • Books – Spookly, There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves. Brown Bear Brown Bear
  • Focus – sight words, punctuation, characters, make predictions from the title and cover, discuss author and illustrator
  • Questions – Who is the main character?  What are some things she likes to do? What is a setting? Who is the book about?  What did character do?  How did the book end? How the story could be made better?
  • Sight words: color words
  • Poems:  Colors and Rainbow Hair

Math:

  • M – Make Ten, Review 3d shapes. Discuss why Spookly couldn’t roll and the other pumpkins show spheres and cubes, Mimeo Math (Look at the image, How do you see it? How many did you see?)
  • T – Teach Number Line Game. Model/Practice, play In the Bag activity (students Pick a bag and count objects inside, write how many in the box)
  • W – early release day
  • Th – Mimeo Math, Family Math (students will will draw their family and show how many on recording sheet). Discuss how you would count the number of family members/write the numeral.
  • F – The Counting Jar How Many Did You Find? Practice counting from the jar using the “I Am a Candy Counter’ math page. Then, have them create an equivalent set.Questions/Discussion – What do you notice about how she/he counted? Discuss double checking (counting a different way)

Science – continue study on 5 senses

  • M – Book, Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf, – students will complete leaf art and leaf rubbings
  • T – Book,BrainPopJr. 5 Senses – students will play spin and sort 5 senses game with their table group
  • W – Book,When the Leaf Blew In – students will complete 5 senses sentences
  • Th – Mystery Doug Video (why do leaves change colors?), sort leaves and nature items by attributes
  • F – Fun Friday – make pumpkin scented cloud dough
