Weekly Plans and Activities for March 5-March 9

Morning Activities and Journal Writing (practice using sight words: to, no)

  • M –Roll a Sight Word, work on Beginning, Middle, End stories
  • T – work on Beginning, Middle, End stories and WEE Deliver letters
  • W – Hidden picture, identify and color numbers to reveal a picture
  • Th – sight word tic tac toe
  • F – Champs Assembly

Morning Message:

  • Monday-Thursday: Daily Star StudentShare something with the class and write a sentence about what was said. Find letters, digraphs, blends in sentence. Fix mistakes (capitals, spacing, punctuation)

Writing

  • Continue Animal Research group projects
  • Continue Writing: Wee Deliver Letters and Beginning, Middle, End Stories
  • March/Easter Words and Inspiration Pages free writing
  • Students will continue using their writing rubrics and we will review Punctuation and Writing Checklist, review Writing A Letter anchor chart
  • Continue makine, There’s A Wocket In My Pocket Class book
  • If time permits, begin leprechaun trap writing

 

Reading (focus: Recalling facts in non fiction texts, positional words, using post-its to jot thinking)

  • Books – And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street, Nonfiction Books, The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day, Leprechaun on the Loose
  • Poem – Dr. Seuss – Look at me! Look at me NOW! It is fun to have fun But you have to know how.
  • Phonics Lessons  and Activities- digraphs, cvc words/boxes, blending, deleting final phonemes

Math: (model the action of separating to represent subtraction, Graphs)

  • M –Race to 10/20 using large number line, Clear the Deck Game (roll dice and add or take away cubes, 1st to clear the deck wins!), Subtraction Smash w/Play-Doh
  • T – How to Make a Graph Chart, Complete Green Eggs and Ham Graph, Shamrock Sums, Race to 20 on Large Number Line, Subtraction Bowling, MIMIO: Crayon Math
  • W – Brainpopjr Graph Videos: Pictographs, Tally Charts and Bar Graphs Chart, Introduce Game: Piggy Subtraction
  • Th – Graphing Lucky Charms Cereal, Story Problems, Decomposing numbers (each group will make a chart)
  • F – Read Caps for Sale and complete a hat graph according to color,

Science/Social Studies

  • M – Library – History of St. Patrick’s Day
