It has been such a beautiful weekend weekend! My family enjoyed fishing and playing at the park. It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through September! I am looking forward to a fun week as we continue our apple activities and experiments.
This week we will be learning:
- Our class is doing a great job using their busy bee folders to rotate to literacy stations during the week.
- We will finish our Kindergarten Friends class book this week.

- Letters: Gg, Oo, Qq
- Reading: I Like Me; Brown Bear, Brown Bear; I Went Walking; Panda Bear, Panda Bear; Monkey and Me

- focus on sight words (I, can, the, on, am, like, see, me), capital letters, punctuation
- Poems: I See, Leaves
- Math:
- number talks using ten frames, rekenreks, and dot cards
- number of the day and discuss counting strategies
- graphing how we get home each day
- introduce new game: number sense memory
- math rotation:
- math by myself – ten frame write the room
- math with a partner – subitizing memory
- math in writing- draw an image to match amount shown on ten frame

Our class loved making applesauce on Friday! It tasted great!! We combined a variety of sliced apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice and cooked it all day in a crockpot. We enjoyed the delicious applesauce during our snack time.
We have been working on conflict resolution as part of our Conscious Discipline lessons in class. We have a time machine mat that we use to help us learn the language to say to resolve any conflicts we may have during the day. I am so proud of our kindergarteners using their Big Voice to solve problems. Here is a picture of our Time Machine mat:
