Students did great on their second sight word spelling check! Thank you for all of your work at home reviewing these words with them. This weeks sight word review and spelling test will be for the words: have, he, here, home, in, bonus words: them, then

Weekly Activities:

Morning Activities and Writing

  • M – continue working on Three Little Pigs student books from last week, continue working on BME (Beginning, Middle, End) writing

We are working on adding detail to our writing. Students get to tape on additional pages to their writing for their stories to continue as they add more detail!

  • T – Goldilocks and The Three Bears Reader 
  • W – Sort story pieces from The Three Bears into sizes from smallest to largest
  • Th – Word Family Find It
  • F – Sight Word Tic Tac Toe

Morning Message/Interactive Writing:

  • Daily Star Student – Share something with the class and write a sentence about what was said. Find letters, digraphs, blends in sentence. Fix mistakes (capitals, spacing, punctuation)
  • Acrostic Poetry Anchor Chart and Group Poem-Fieldtrip
  • Complete a map the class is creating for Little Red Riding Hood to use to get to Grandmother’s House
  • Complete a Large Story Map of The Three Little Pigs, students can take turns walking down the path and retelling the story.
  • Phonics lessons: writing words with blends, solving the mystery sentence using beginning sounds,

Writing

  • Acrostic Poetry Anchor Chart
  • Acrostic Name Poem- students will write words describing themselves that begin with each letter of their name
  • Procedural Text Anchor Chart
  • How To Make Porridge – Have students write procedural text for making porridge.
  • Nouns Foldable in Journals – students will illustrate and write about a person, place, and thing
  • Roll A Fairy Tale Story (students will roll dice and use prompts to create individual fairy tale stories with characters, setting, problem, and solution)
  • Review Intro Into Fairy Tales Chart, retelling with popsicle stick puppets
  • Continue Writing Beginning, Middle, End Stories

  • Students will continue using their writing rubrics and we will review Punctuation and Writing Checklist
